We are back after some technical difficulties and me leaving my computer behind when we went on our little trip. We also made the mistake of forgetting the camera so we were both disappointed in our lack of photographs. It has been quiet for a few days. The boys had a great time, Ernest even got some of leash time which he loved while Porter had to stay with us cause he's a bolter, big surprise there for a Scottie and all. All and all it was a great time with family and friends and I got to spend a couple of days in Seattle when it was gorgeously sunny and of course was reminded about how much I missed it. Only one more year till the move out of Spokane. Hope you all are having a fabulous spring day, it is of course raining here.

From one dog owner to all the others.

I am just curious how other people handle these sorts of situations which we seem to run into more because of having Scotties. My dogs are on leash 90% of time and when it comes to Porter 99.9% of the time and when they are walking together they are a little difficult to handle at times. What makes it worse though is encountering off-leash dogs while the boys are on leash, lets just say they don't react well lots of barking and posturing even with all the work I have done with Porter and his reactivness when they are together it's quite a lot of work. When I tell other people that ohh by the way my dogs don't like being approached by off-leash dogs while they are on-leash, they just laugh it off then have a minor freak out when the dogs react the way they do even if I anticipate their reaction and try to avoid the situation or behavior all together. They treat me like my dogs are out of control which okay they aren't the best behaved but we try lol. Is it just my dogs? Am I the irresponsible dog owner? I just feel like my dogs are on-leash by law so maybe you shouldn't give me a problem. Any suggestions or comments. To add, Ernest is enrolled in class for June (Porter has taken 2 classes) and separately they behave quite well or when they are each being walked by separate people.

We're going on Vacation!

On Thursday we are going here:

We are going to cross this

Stay here

& maybe even ride one of these.

also we are going to visit lots of family the boys are getting groomed in Porter's home town and go to some our favorite restaurants we are all pretty excited and we will make sure to write while we are away.

Here's Ernest!

I thought it was finally time to introduce Porter's baby brother, and now that I am done with work for the summer I have much more time to do it.

Ernest is from the great state of Idaho and a breeder there, Skyline Scotties. When we started looking for another dog It was actually my husband's idea (oh how the times have changed between Porter and Ernest) we still weren't qualified to rescue (no one would give us a second look even with me being part of the rescue network) so I went looking for breeders close to where we were that I thought were great that is how we found this little guy. No one wanted him or his brother because they were boys and wheaton, (sad) we had thought we wanted a girl when we first started looking, we thought that would be easier for Porter. We saw a picture of the little guy and couldn't say no, plus Porter loves puppies so we weren't too worried. I went to go pick him up and the rest is history I had never thought that getting two dogs of the same breed they would be so different but they are. Ernest is noisy, extremely food motivated and people oriented to the point of sometimes neediness all in all everything Porter is not, but he still has lots of the Scottie tendencies and is the perfect yin to Porter's yang. The one thing I can say is the biggest blessing about his character is he truly wants to be around us & even comes back off leash when called, who would have thought it? He is a big softy and fits in perfect to that spot that was missing in our house, we all love him even his big brother Porter.
Ernest's Favorite things:
Food. Anything, we have not found a single thing yet he will not at least try and eat.
Being pet, all the time, by anyone.
Porter, he hero worships his big brother.
Other than that Ernest is so happy go lucky I could put most things in this category.

His Least Favorite things:
Being brushed
Certain smells like tea tree, his lips curl up over his teeth in the funniest way, not in a "I'm going to bite you" way.
Not being allowed around people
Weather, anything but 60* or better and sunny puts him in a bad mood, he HATES the wind, it doesn't scare him he just hates it.

Ernest is a simple dog, very easy to love, especially with the Scottie traits he does have to go with all the good.

Last weekend

I participated in my first 12k run ever this weekend, it is one of those things you just do when you live in Spokane. It opened my eyes that maybe I should have prepared more and yet somehow my husband talked me into doing this in a month. I really don't know what I am thinking. I hope you all had a great weekend I got to spend my with out-of-town family and of course my boys, we all had a lovely time, we even found some great restaurants around town that we had heard about but hadn't tried, if you have never been to Spokane then let me tell you that is a great achievement in itself as we have been called a deserted wasteland of good food by many people and I do agree. See you all tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday's.
